Quick answer: Task Ant's hashtag generator turns a topic into a ready-to-paste hashtag set built from hand-curated pools for about 100 niches. Instagram now allows five hashtags on posts and Reels, so each set mixes one broad, two mid-sized and two specific tags, with separate TikTok and YouTube Shorts options.
How the generator works
Describe your post
Type what the post is about, such as "sourdough bread", "leg day" or "beach wedding". Common alternative names and spellings are matched to the right niche.
Get a balanced set
The generator draws from that niche's broad, mid and niche pools to build a five-tag Instagram set, plus TikTok and YouTube Shorts sets. Reported restricted and spam tags are removed automatically.
Tweak, copy and post
Swap in a tag that's unique to you, like your city or product, then copy the set. Check the length with the caption counter before you post.

All 99 nichesWhy Task Ant is different
Curated by people, not scraped
Every tag comes from a niche page we researched and sorted by hand into broad, mid and niche tiers. Nothing random or unvetted is suggested, and pages are reviewed at least quarterly.
Built for the five-hashtag limit
Instagram caps posts and Reels at five hashtags, so we don't hand you 30 tags to trim. Each set is balanced to fit the limit, and TikTok and Shorts get their own sets.
Private by design
No sign-up, no Instagram login and no password, ever. The generator runs in your browser, and your topics stay on your device.
Honest about the numbers
Instagram doesn't provide a public API for hashtag counts, so we don't show made-up usage figures. Our methodology page explains exactly how tiers are decided.

Frequently asked questions
How many hashtags should I use on Instagram?
Five at most. Instagram began limiting posts and Reels to five hashtags in December 2025, and tags in comments count toward the same limit. A mix of one broad, two mid-sized and two specific tags usually describes a post best.
Is the hashtag generator free?
Yes, completely. There's no paid version, no trial and no account. You can generate as many sets as you like.
Does Task Ant need my Instagram password?
No, never. The generator doesn't connect to Instagram at all; it works from our own curated database in your browser. Be wary of any hashtag or growth tool that asks you to log in with your Instagram details.
Can I use these hashtags on TikTok and YouTube Shorts?
Yes, but use the platform-specific sets rather than copying an Instagram set across. TikTok and YouTube treat hashtags differently; for example, YouTube shows up to three hashtags near a video's title and ignores all of them if a video has more than 60.
Why don't you show how many posts each hashtag has?
Instagram doesn't offer a public API for hashtag post counts, so any exact number would be an estimate that goes stale quickly. We group tags into broad, mid and niche tiers by editorial judgement instead, and explain the process on our methodology page.
What if my topic isn't in the generator?
You'll get the closest matching niche, which may be broader than you want. Refine the set with a location or community tag of your own, run new tags through the banned hashtag checker, and email us to suggest the niche for a future page.
